INTERVIEW WITH SUKORA ON INTERNET 1/ What kind of music do you like? ------------------------------------------------- I prefer extreme kinds of music. I started with rock and heavy metal music in 80's, after that i found death metal ,hardcore, grindcore and at last satisfied me noise, industrial and experimental. I listen to many sorts of music, but hard, raw, harsh noise is my real cup of tea. 2/How many years do you play NAPALMED? ------------------------------------------------- I formed NAPALMED 21.5.1994, so it's about three years now. 3/ Why do you start with noise music? ------------------------------------------------- Answer to this question may be same as to first one.Aways i was looking for hyper, hard and extreme in music. It was like hammer fall on my head, when I first hear EINSTUERZENDE NEUBAUTEN's track "Aufstehe Berlin" from heir first album (Collapse - `81). Therefor I start searching similar sounds. For long time noisecore recordings from ANAL CUNT, MEAT SHITS and GEROGERIGEGEGE were most extreme to me. Second, but much heavier was first contact with MERZBOW. They are totally absolutorium for me until now. 4/ ...and before NAPALMED, do you play music or noise? ------------------------------------------------- I didn't play music before. I'm too lazy to learn playing instrument, rehearse, etc. I'm the only musial diletant in our band. Rest members are all musicians; three bass players and one of them is drummer too. 5/ How many people in NAPALMED? ------------------------------------------------- We are four members: Martin Holy (bass, ex-LUCRECIA/power metal/), Petr Beranek (bass-KREVEL/thrash metal/, bass-ex-FOUR SEATS FOR INVALIDES/grind core/), Martin Beraxa (drums-KREVEL and many other R.I.P. bands, bass-FOUR SEATS FOR INVALIDES) and me Radek Kopel. 6/ What does it mean - NAPALMED? ------------------------------------------------- I don't know. Word came from DEATHMAN's (F.S.F.I.'s vocalist) head, I mean as czech, phonetical parody to NAPALM DEATH. When I heard it, I like it too much, so the meaning of it doesn't matter. Through time I found next meanings like: to be napalmed, napalm med-icine, czech words napal(fight) med(honey), napalm mad, .....? 7/ Do you play live shows? ------------------------------------------------- We play once in two months. Until now we play about 15 live performances. All of them were recorded on video by our VIDEOMED Petr Kopecky, who is like our fifth member. Some of them were recorded on audio too. I'm working on live CD, which will be creates from these recordings as 74 minutes long, one track collage. 8/ What material do you use (guitar, effectors, bass or...)? ------------------------------------------------- In the beginning we used two basses, drums and my voice only. But we sounded like noisecore type band, which I didn't want to be. We stop using these instruments and now we use prepared electronics (lo-fi amplifiers, home made oscillators, ...), microphones (we are looking for contact ones!!!!!), metals, woods, plastics, megaphones, headphones, tapes, pedal effectors, tape deck, drums, mixing board, prepared accoustic and bass guitars and many other things which nobody needs. 9/ Are there many noise and strange bands in Czech Republic? ------------------------------------------------- I don't mean here are many...some noise projects (NOISE LABORATORY, STEAM SYMPHONY, BILLATERAL FRATRICIDE, EPS, ...),some industrial legends (STREDNI EVROPA, PAPRSKY INZENYRA GARINA, SUICIDAL MEDITATIONS, ...), some experimental bands. One of very, very good from last time is VOID. They play industrial rhythm stuctured music. I must write about HERMAFRODIT too. They called their sound acid-trance/industrial-jazz, but they remind me simple SCORN type of music. I heard the promo stuff for their first album and I like it a lot. Very possitive, fresh injection for our underground music. But you can find many metal/rock/"bigbeat" kinds here.Czech musical scene is very colourful.Tons of different units. For example in the area of my town, you can hear about 60 acts (pop, country, rock, metal, punk, core, noise, ...etc). It's very good I think. 10/What did czech people think about noise music? ------------------------------------------------- When we start our live set, people came near stage and look what's going on.On my mind they don't like noise, but may be it's a little bit interesting for them. They are rushed when they must listen to loud, harsh, non-rhythmic, strange, chaotic, unstructured sounds. Better would be if you ask them. 11/What do you think of noise? ------------------------------------------------- Noise is many times amplified life.Sometimes funny, freaky, shitty, mad, terrible but every time true!I like pure, loud, good sounded, not boring sounds. These conditions are same for my listening to music.I love music very much, but noise satisfied me much more! 12/What band were you influenced by? ------------------------------------------------- I can't name bands here.I love millions and millions of them. When I listen to their productions, sometimes I found interesting idea or sound, which I try use (in different form) in NAPALMED. May be I can say I was mainly influenced by GEROGERIGEGEGE's,VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA's and AUBE's originality,MERZBOW's quality,INCAPACITANTS's and MASONNA's intensity,...............etc,etc. 13/ Before I wath japanese TV news, guy in TV said "...the government of Czech Republic is not stable...".Is it really? ------------------------------------------------- Life in Czech Republic is very fast right now. Many changes each day, many problems each hour, many troubles each minute. But I hope all will be much better in the future.Who knows??????????? 14/Please tell me your biography. ------------------------------------------------- I'm 28 years old, married.I have nice, good wife Helena, three daughters Lenka,Jitka and Martina.I work as flow, temperature, pressure equipments repairer in big chemical factory (I said in the european biggest recording studio).I didn't found more interesting things about me. 15/Last one.If you want to write something, please write it free! ------------------------------------------------- BE YOURSELF! Ultramega thank to my good friend TAKAYOSHI KITAJIMA.You are great! Pozdrav a poděkování Heleně,Lence,Jitce a Martině. Second ultragiga thank and greeting to my friend Pavel Tušl. At last I would like thank to many friends,NAPALMED supporters, underground freaks, penpals, stuff traders, etc. You all know who you are!Stay in contact!
